Happy Surprises

I have found in the last few weeks that more often than not the surprises in my life are not happy ones. They are full of disappointment and regret. Disappointment in people and their actions and regret of the opportunities I have not taken.

However, when the surprises are happy ones, man they kick arse.

Tonight when I came back to my computer there was a missed Skype call from one of the people I miss the most from Wellington. My best friend Lisa. Not only was there a missed call but she was still online.

So very lucky. I got to see her:
and her dog Molly
(we both look a little special in that photo)

and her partner's dog Max:
Made my entire night.

The other amazing woman I get wonderful surprise Skype's from is my sister:
I think I was dancing at this point.

It's just easier not to ask.

At any rate, the happy surprises are the ones that count, as they can turn an entire week around. They also make you realise that the important people in your life are never the ones which spring unhappy surprises on you.

The three essential

Drinks when visiting Wellington.

Flat whites at Fidels:
Peanut Butter & Chocolate milkshake from Sweet Mothers Kitchen
Castlepoint at Mighty Mighty.

You may need to repeat the flat white and milkshake the next day if you have too many Castlepoints.

That is all.

Wanganui Woolshed

Had a night at the Momma's farm on the Amber and Monica road trip. Checked out the Woolshed which apparently will be where the PARTYING for my sisters wedding will take place come February.
Jacqui, sweets I love you, but there is a WHOLE lotta work required on that Woolshed before you can let people party in it. Awesome venue, smells like sheep...

Puppies

So, I got to dog sit the other weekend. Do you wanna talk about how amazingly cute the puppies I looked after were? Check them out:
This is Chester (brown) and Baxter (black) in their basket. They can't walk down the stairs to the apartment, so you have to carry them in a bag.
Bax having his tummy rubbed down on Mission Bay. Happy puppy.

Sleepy Bax
Sleepy Chester.

Of course, they slept through the day, and fought and barked all night. They are freaking lucky they are so cute or I may have hurt them.

Top off 2 cute pups with a lovely apartment with stunning views:

Pretty much a perfect weekend.

Now these, are shoes

So, Kathryn Wilson had a pretty epic showing at NZFW this year, wish I had been there to see it, but nonetheless, can't have everything my way. Apparently.

As amazing as Kathryn's shoes were, check out the Alexander McQueen shoes on the catwalk this year. Obviously with the very sad passing of Alexander, this is not all his work, instead, Sarah Burton can take the credit. Either way, I think that the McQueen brand is well safe and sound and there will be more McQueen to come.
Now, if I could just afford to buy a pair...

My Geekiness

I always wondered how/why I classified myself as a Geek. Thanks to this venn diagram, I now understand, and think I am correct.
Happy to hear about it if you disagree.

Found thanks to AdrianwithaW.

Hello Wellington, You Sexy Bitch

So, I decided to go to Wellington for my birthday last weekend. I couldn't imagine a birthday without a Fidel's coffee...

First stop off the plane:
Oh SO delicious. And free thanks to the beautiful Christie. What a woman.

Then a walk into Wellington from Karori. Could it have been a more stunning day? Check out the snow dusting on the Rimataka's
I got distracted after this over a bottle of wine and some almonds with the Magnificent Michael. What a doll!

Skip a couple of hours and things got a little dark. It might be hard to tell, but that is a Crazy Horse on that glass. Hot damn - I have never had anything less than a stunning night at CrazyHorse the Steakhouse. It is impecable.
Wine, steak, deliciousness followed by afogato. Amazing.
What is not photographically captured is a 10cent kissing party, Mighty Mighty, dancing, cups of tea looking out over Wellington at 5am, a hot girl in my bed and Maranui Cafe for Father's Day.

I'll be back Wellington, to visit, real soon. I promise. xx
